Who are we?
We are students, teachers, Bradfordians, activists and we could be you.
The Treehouse is part of the Bradford Centre for Non-Violence which is run by and for its members we are a co-operative social centre.
Day to day the cafe is run by volunteers and 4 part time coordinators. On a financial level and development the members elect a board of directors every year to run the cafe, schedule events, pay the bills and employ the coordinators.
Meet the Coordinators
Joel White : originally from Bradford, he was involved in the local music scene and is the Yorkshire CND member on the national CND committee, he is also the Vice Chair of the Woodcraft Folk 16-21 year olds (DFs)
Joe Clarke : originality a student of Clinical Sciences at Bradford he works part time with care in the community. He runs our alternative folk nights Homemade.
Sarah Lawson : a Bradfordian, Sarah is a trustee of the Woodcraft folk, she is the projects coordinator for the DFs age group and runs their projects such as their mediation programme MEST UP and the political education centre work PARTY.
Andrew Dey : from Homewood parish, he is now very involved in Just Space and Soul Space, he has been working hard with support of asylum seekers and is active in the Action for Refugees group.
Meet the Work Group
* The Food Co-op -, Joe Clarke (jofis75@hotmail.com), Sarah and Nina
This group is going to look at all things foody. They are going to discuss how the food coop can expand and flourish next year to provide tasty goods, wholesome foods and lovely fairtrade items at a cheap members price in the cafe next year!
* The Cafe Collective - Joel (neon42@gmail.com), Sarah, Kai, Andrew, Judith, Joe Clarke and Jo Healey
This group are dealing with the Cafe element of things.We are going to spend time finalising and tweaking the cafe’s buisness plan and making sure we can hand over the cafe’s buisness sustainably next year!
* Grants/Finances – Rachel (r_clunas@hotmail.com), Anika, Shelly, John,, Charlie, Ros
This group are going to give us all a level-headed check at all times so we have tight reign on our finacial and legal situation at all times. Also they are going to look at the really exciting prospect of opening up our own charity. They will look much deeper into this issue, and will also plot what funding we can apply for if this charity can be opened for next year. Super important. Very exciting!
* Events and Fundraising! – Sarah (sarah.ruby.lawson@gmail.com), everyone!
This group will be spear-headed by me, Sarah but it really needs the involvenment of everyone! I really want to get this into a better working collective so if anyone else is interested then email me. If not, then we all still need to carry on trying to push the fundraising email and people donating online and also keep on setting up exciting events to raise cash over this summer for the centre. This is one is vital for us to get through this summer till next year and implement all our exciting crazy plans!

This group will carry on liasing with Ackess and report back to the full work group on how we will be able to work alongside them next year in a sustainable way!
